Pre-Tryout Information

Hi All-

I know it's a crazy time. I'll be short and to the point.

- Attached is a sheet with examples of the full junior membership and tryout membership cards for you to hand out to your people doing registration so that they know what they're looking for. Also be sure everyone has med forms with them. I'd print extra. No paper forms this year, might be a good idea to have a computer on-site in case someone hasn't registered.

- Attached is a word doc on how to upgrade a member and/or choose a club. Pass out at tryouts, post on websites, email it with your offers, do with it what you wish, just please help get the info out. It will make all of our lives easier.

- The end-of-season release policy was again discussed and voted on at our last board meeting. While the vote was extremely close to allow the families to make the decision rather than the club directors, it was voted down because of the recommendation of the junior advisory committee (you) this summer. HOWEVER - the Board requests that you make public (website, handbook, announcements at tryouts) your policy on end-of-season release. Will you always give a release to a player who is in good standing with your club to play with another club after your season is done. Will you sometimes, on what grounds? Will you never? That way the families have the information prior to choosing a club. And I again urge you to do the right thing by the families and the players like I know most of you do.

- Madison and Eau Claire Impact clinics have been added. http://badgervolleyball.org/coaching-impact.php#schedule

-  If you (as a club director) renewed your membership after Oct. 31, chances are your admin access is gone in Webpoint. Email me and I'll give it back if you're nice.

- We have more than 45 people signed up for CAP I and more than 10 signed up for CAP II. Registration is still open. The course is Dec. 3-4 in Waukesha. Email Colleen for hotel if you're more than 90 miles away.

- The website is new. Changes/updates are still being made. You will get access to update your own club section shortly.

- The age waiver policy is the same as it's always been. If you have a kid who should be playing at (for example) 16s but you don't have a 16s team and she's in the same grade as the 15s, you can request a waiver. I know many have asked for leniency because of skill level but you guys (read: Sept. 11 meeting voters) decided not to change the policy this year and I have no authority to override that. It will be revisited next summer. The policy remains the same.

- Be sure all of your coaches are members and have clear background screens heading into tryouts. If not, they can't participate until the screen is clear.

- When creating and naming teams in Webpoint, please remember to put your club name in the team name "Club ABC 15-1". You cannot change team names, only I can, so I advise against Club ABC 15 Amanda if "Amanda" isn't going to be coaching your 15-1s every year. Reminder: J5 is 15s, J2 is 12, etc. Team rank - 1 is your best, 2 is second. Please use 1 and go down. If they're equal, you will need to decide. Don't put one as A and one as 1. Because when we're doing team fees, A will become 2. We don't use division, you can leave that blank.

- And finally, good luck and have fun! Make sure your coaches know the policies, if what you're doing feels shady and wrong - stop because it probably is, and represent yourselves, your club and Badger Region in the best light possible to further the sport that we all love!

If you have any questions, please email me as I will have access to email all weekend long and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Jen
