I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season! Three quick things:
1. Required ref/SK clinic verification and online ref/sk resources
- http://badgervolleyball.org/forms-referee-scorekeeper-certification-verification.php
Above is the link for the Verification of Club Ref/Scorekeeping Certification. Please fill out this NEW REQUIRED online form with the information regarding who is doing your club's ref/sk training. This will take about three minutes or less to do, depending on how fast you type. We WILL be checking those teaching your clubs the rules against the rosters of those who attended or hosted a clinic (one of which is required, per the Junior Club Director handbook). Sanctions will be imposed against those clubs not filling out the reporting form and/or those who don't do the ref/sk training. (This check/balance was something that came from many of you guys - the club directors - last year when I sent out my Survey Monkey - that you wanted clubs to be held accountable for ref/sk training - just so you know where this came from).
If you still need to attend a clinic, please see the remaining schedule (http://badgervolleyball.org/clinics-referee-and-scorekeeper.php and scroll down to Club-Hosted Clinics) or schedule a clinician to come in and teach your club, please contact Jim Momsen at BadgerRefChair@yahoo.com with potential sites and dates. You can always partner with another club to help defray the $100 cost. Please contact JIM with any questions you may have regarding the clinics and certifications.
- Ref/Scorekeeping resources: There are some great online resources regarding junior club ref/scorekeeping. Links can be found on the forms page under ref/scorekeeping: http://badgervolleyball.org/forms.php - be sure to check out the powerpoint with libero adaptation
USAV has done a great job and I highly recommend having your players check out the information on www.VolleyballRefTraining.net - information included:
~Demonstration of the pre-match protocol, since it was decided at the Junior Club Director meeting that this is the protocol that we're going to follow this year: http://www.volleyballreftraining.net/indoor_modules.php - second column, second red from the bottom
~ Junior Training modules: http://www.volleyballreftraining.net/junior_modules.php - videos/graphics on how to 2nd ref, score, line judge for junior players
2. A classroom Impact ($30) will be held Thursday, Jan. 5 from 6-10pm at Center Court in Waukesha. We are working on a Madison date for that week also, and will schedule one in the Sheboygan area near the end of January. These will be the final classes scheduled this year. There are also a few remaining online webinars through USAV: http://usavolleyball.org/events/tag/3198
3. Also sent in this email was an attachment of 10 Rules for Parents - a great document that I was given from another region, feel free to pass it along or post it on your websites as you see fit!
I'm looking forward to a great season, and as always, please let myself, Colleen, Terry or any of the Board know if there's anything we can do!
Jen
This blog will contain the updates also emailed out to the Badger Region Volleyball club directors in case they get behind on their emails, or are looking for information.
